What to expect

Our Horizons Series isn’t just a scenic off-road experience, it’s your entry point into the world of overlanding, guided by a seasoned team who want you to walk away more capable and confident than when you arrived.

Here’s what you can expect to learn during your time on trail:

  • Trail Navigation

    • Start with the basics: how to read a topographic map, understand contour lines, and identify key landmarks. Then we’ll introduce OnX OffRoad, our go-to navigation app, and show you how we plan, track, and adapt routes on the fly, all while reading the terrain around us.

  • Vehicle Readiness & Recovery

    • What makes an off-road vehicle “trail-ready”? You’ll get a guided walkaround of an equipped rig, learn about tires, tire pressure, suspension, and gear. We’ll also expose you to essential recovery tools like tire deflators, traction boards, and rigging sometimes with client participation, depending on the conditions.

  • Safety & Situational Awareness

    • From spotting techniques to radio communication, we’ll show you how we stay safe, connected, and alert on the trail. We’ll talk through common trail hazards from unstable terrain to unpredictable weather and explain how we prepare for the unexpected.

  • Environmental Stewardship

    • Overlanding is about respect for the land, the trail, and the people around you. You’ll learn Tread Lightly and Leave No Trace principles, proper trail etiquette, and what it means to be a responsible user of public lands like BLM roads and national forest routes.

  • Mindset & Team Dynamics

    • Overlanding is a dynamic adventure. We’ll highlight how roles shift during the trip, sometimes you’re the driver, sometimes the spotter, sometimes the digger. You’ll get a feel for our guiding philosophy: Confidence Through Competence and see how calm leadership and steady teamwork make the trail more rewarding for everyone.
